College coaching great, former SU basketball assistant fired

Legendary Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino has been fired, according to reports.

ESPN says Pitino and the school's athletic director were fired Wednesday after the program was linked to a federal investigation into fraud and corruption in recruiting.

The coach got his start as Jim Boeheim's first-ever assistant coach, in 1976.

Since then, he has coached at Boston University, Providence, Kentucky and even the Boston Celtics.

This is not the first time the school has been in hot water.

The NCAA launched an investigation into an alleged sex for pay scandal organized by a former assistant coach, in 2015.
